The Dangers of Over-Preparing for the 4+

Many parents have been working with us on the monthly 4+ check-ins for entry into London’s most popular independent schools with great success. We visit their houses, run through the elements of the 4+ assessment, check the learning from the previous session and then identify what the next steps will be for the following month. We then give written feedback with activities to focus on at home before the next session. structured, play-based sessions are working well because I am an experienced teacher and former Head of Pre-Prep. I know how to support children at this age and what the schools are looking for in their 4+ assessments. We don’t need intense weekly sessions just yet, as we always say; slow and steady wins the race.
